Classification tasks are short, pre-assigned jobs that appear as a queue on your My Work page. Submit and Reject are both paid; Skip is not.
How do classification tasks work?
You are assigned a small batch of tasks at a time. Open the project from My Work and select Start next task to begin. Each task pays a fixed amount, shown on the project card as the rate per task. After you finish or skip a task the next one loads automatically — skipping does not stall your queue — and your queue tops up with new work; when nothing is left you will see No pending classifications. If you work as part of a team or agency, you will not see rates — the team lead manages payment.
What does Submit do?
Submit records your answer and completes the task. It is paid. Use it whenever you can give a valid answer to what the task asks.
Is Reject paid?
Yes. Reject is paid at the same rate as Submit. Use it when the item itself is defective and you cannot give a valid answer — for example, the label says one thing but the video clearly shows something else. A rejection is a correct, useful answer: you are reporting a faulty item, not declining the work. Selecting Reject opens a confirmation dialog where you can add a reason before confirming.
What does Skip do to my pay?
Skip is unpaid, and skipping permanently forfeits your pay on that item — you will not be paid for it even if it is worked on again later. Not every task type has a Skip button; where it appears, use it only when the task cannot be worked at all — for example, the video does not load. If the item is mislabelled or otherwise defective, use Reject instead, which is paid.
In short:
Submit — you gave a valid answer; paid
Reject — the item was defective; paid
Skip — the item could not be worked; unpaid, and pay on that item is permanently forfeited
What happens if I do not finish a task in time?
Tasks are reclaimed about an hour after you open them and returned to the pool so another contributor can work on them. The clock runs from when you open the task — not from your last activity — so staying active does not keep a task alive, and even a task you are still working on can be reclaimed once the hour is up. A task you are assigned but never open is also reclaimed about an hour after assignment; you lose no pay when that happens. There is no warning — the task simply disappears from your queue. Only open a task when you are ready to complete it; your queue will top up with new work as normal.
