Some projects on Claru are locked until you pass a short qualification assessment. The assessment is scored automatically, retakes are free and unlimited, and once you pass the project stays unlocked for you.
Which projects have an assessment?
Only certain project types — currently Activities Video and External Video Recording projects. If a project requires one, its card on the My Work page shows a qualification banner, and the Join button stays locked until you pass.
Where do I find the assessment?
Open the My Work page, find the project card, and press Start qualification in the banner. The assessment opens in a dialog, with an Instructions button in the header if you want to review the project brief before you start.
What does the assessment involve?
A short multiple-choice quiz — usually five questions, answered one at a time
Around 10 minutes of your time
For some project types, a short sample video so we can check your recording setup
If your assessment asks for a sample video, you record and submit it from the Claru app on your phone, following the recording rules shown on screen. If you are not sure your phone is suitable, see Device requirements for mobile recording projects.
How is it scored?
Automatically, the moment you submit. What counts towards passing depends on the assessment: for some, it is your quiz answers; for others — such as Activities Video — the quiz questions are optional and it is your sample video, checked by our automated quality review, that decides the result. If you do not pass, press Try again — retakes are free and unlimited, so you can retake the assessment as many times as you need.
What happens to my sample video?
It goes through automated quality checks. This can take a few minutes, and the dialog shows your result as soon as it is ready. If the video needs changes, you will see written feedback explaining what to fix, along with an Upload again button. You cannot submit a new sample while a previous one is still being checked.
What happens after I pass?
The banner on the project card changes to Qualification passed and the Join button unlocks, so you can join the project and start working straight away.
For external video-collection projects, a setup screen also appears for that project's recording app — install it and sign in with the sign-in email shown on screen (using any other email means your recording sessions cannot be credited to your account), then enter the Hub ID shown on screen to link the project.
Do I need to take it again later?
No. Pass it once and the project type stays unlocked. In rare cases our team may revoke a qualification — if that happens, you are removed from projects of that type and will need to pass the assessment again before rejoining.
