We recently announced several updates to project pay, boosted tasks, and upcoming payment improvements. We know you may have questions, so we’ve put together some quick answers below.

This article covers the Residential Egocentric project. Other Claru projects have their own rates and their own eligibility rules.

What is the base rate?

The Residential Egocentric project’s base rate is USD $5.00/hour for submissions uploaded from October 9, 2026 at 10:45 AM Eastern Time onward, regardless of when the video was recorded. Submissions uploaded before that time keep the rate that applied to them. The rate for each category is shown on the project page in Claru.

In addition to the base rate, certain activities may be available as boosted tasks, allowing you to earn up to USD $10.00/hour depending on the task.

What happens to videos I recorded before September 9?

Recordings made before September 9, 2026 are paid at the rate that applied before that date, including recordings that were still in review when the change took effect.

Why is my balance lower than I expected?

The rate change does not reduce earnings for work recorded before September 9, 2026. If your balance looks lower than you expected, the usual reasons are:

  • Payments are based only on approved videos. A video that is rejected in review is not paid.

  • Videos approved after a Tuesday payment cutoff are included in the following payment cycle, so they may not appear yet.

  • Milestone bonuses ended on September 9, 2026 and are no longer added to balances.

If none of these explains it, and the amount does not match what you expected for work that was already approved, contact support with the email registered with Claru and we will review your account. If your balance still appears lower than expected, it may be due to pending reviews that have not yet been finalized and approved.

What are boosted tasks?

Boosted tasks are activities that offer additional earnings on top of the base rate.

Different tasks may have different rates depending on which categories are currently needed most. This means your earnings may vary depending on the activities you choose to record.

How do I know how much a task pays?

Please check your Claru dashboard for the current rate associated with each task.

Task rates will be available through the Claru web app, with visibility through the mobile app coming soon.

What happened to the milestone bonuses?

The previous milestone bonus program has been replaced by the new boosted task model.

Instead of earning bonuses based on total monthly hours, additional earnings will now be available through specific boosted tasks.

Are more boosted tasks coming?

Yes. We’ll be rolling out more boosted tasks and sharing additional information about how they work soon.

Please continue to check your Claru dashboard for the latest available tasks and rates.

Are payments changing?

We’re also working on improvements to make payments faster and more flexible based on feedback from the community.

Over the next few weeks, we’re looking to introduce instant withdrawals, so you can withdraw available earnings without waiting for the Tuesday payment cycle. We’re also looking to support PixPay in Brazil, providing additional payout options such as digital wallets and cryptocurrency.

When will these payment features be available?

These improvements are not available yet and are still being rolled out. We’ll share more information as soon as they become available.

Is the Residential Egocentric project still available in Venezuela?

No. Due to updated geographic eligibility requirements, the Residential Egocentric project is no longer available to contributors located in Venezuela.

If you are currently located in Venezuela, you will no longer be able to participate in or submit new recordings to the Residential Egocentric project.

We’ll share additional updates if project availability changes in the future.

I still have questions. What should I do?

We know these are significant changes and that there may be questions as the new system rolls out.

More information and updates will be shared soon. In the meantime, please keep an eye on your Claru dashboard and official Claru announcements for the latest information.

Thank you for your patience and continued participation!
